What We Believe

About God

We believe God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. There is the only one true God, revealed in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity).

Genesis 1:1,26,27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; I Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14

About the bible

We believe the entire Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, it is without error. The Bible is the supreme source of truth for beliefs and living.

2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105,160,12:6; Proverbs 30:5

About Humanity

We believe people are the supreme object of God’s creation. All people were created in the image of God to be like Him in character and to have fellowship with him. However, humanity became alienated in that relationship with God, through disobedience. Although man continues to have a tremendous potential for good, he is marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.”

Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Isaiah 59:1,2

About Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the world. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven where He now sits at the right hand of the Father. One day He will return to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Jesus is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) and is co-equal with the Father and the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; John 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; I Corinthians 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; I Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13

About the Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit makes everyone aware of their need for Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit provides power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are given to, and through, followers of Christ. The purpose of the gifts is to build up the church. The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Trinity and is co-equal with the Father and the Son as God.

2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13; John 14:16,17; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 2:12; Ephesians 1:13

About Salvation

We believe salvation is a gift from God to man. Salvation is available through the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on the cross. This is the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Salvation is for those who choose to place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

Acts 16:30,31; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8,9; John 14:6; John 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26

About the Church

We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The church consists of people who, throughout time, have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to be an agency for evangelizing the world, a corporate body in which man may worship God, a vehicle of God’s purpose to build up a body of people being perfected in the image of Jesus, and demonstrate God’s love and compassion to our world.
